Culture (Latin: cultura, lit. "cultivation") is a
modern concept based on a term first used in classical antiquity by the Roman orator, Cicero: "cultura
animi". The term "culture" appeared first
in its current sense in Europe in the 18th and 19th centuries, to connote a
process of cultivation or improvement, as in agriculture or horticulture.

A festival or gala is
an event, usually and ordinarily staged by a local community, which centers on
and celebrates some unique aspect of that community and the Festival.
There
are numerous types of festivals in the world. Though many have religious
origins, others involve seasonal change or have some cultural significance. Also,
certain institutions celebrate their own festival (often called
"fests") to mark some significant occasions in their history. These
occasions could be the day these institutions were founded or any other event
which they decide to commemorate periodically, usually annually.

วัฒนธรรม โดยทั่วไปหมายถึง รูปแบบของกิจกรรมมนุษย์และโครงสร้างเชิงสัญลักษณ์ที่ทำให้กิจกรรมนั้นเด่นชัดและมีความสำคัญ วิถีการดำเนินชีวิต ซึ่งเป็นพฤติกรรมและสิ่งที่คนในหมู่ผลิตสร้างขึ้น ด้วยการเรียนรู้จากกันและกัน และร่วมใช้อยู่ในหมู่พวกของตน

วัฒนธรรมในภูมิภาคต่าง ๆ อาจได้รับอิทธิพลจากการติดต่อกับภูมิภาคอื่น เช่น การเป็นอาณานิคม การค้าขาย การย้ายถิ่นฐาน การสื่อสารมวลชนและศาสนา อีกทั้งระบบความเชื่อ ไม่ว่าจะเป็นเรื่องศาสนามีบทบาทในวัฒนธรรมในประวัติศาสตร์ของมนุษยชาติมาโดยตลอด
